Disparities in the Geographic Distribution of Palliative Care Specialists in 2022
An article published in the Journal of General Internal Medicine describes the shortage of board-certified palliative clinicians in the United States. The authors discuss the uneven geographical distribution of specialists and discuss how workforce shortages can impact older adults and people from historically marginalized groups. To solve this, they suggest a strategy enabling nurse practitioners to practice with more autonomy and leveraging telemedicine.
